Welcome Ben!

WCLT is pleased to welcome Ben Shapiro to the board.  Ben is currently a sophomore at Colby College and he hails from Belmont, Mass.  On campus Ben is president of the rugby club, a sexual violence prevention peer educator, and a member of the residential life team.  Ben’s interest in urban planning drew him to the board, as well as his desire to be involved with life in Waterville beyond the “Colby bubble.”  Ben hopes that by being on the board he can help bridge the gap between Colby and the rest of the Waterville community.  In particular, he wants to spread the word about the important role that affordable homeownership can play in improving the area.  Please join us in welcoming Ben!

We own a house!

On Friday, January 8th we signed on the dotted line and are now the proud owners of the house at 181 Water Street!  We are very grateful to the previous owner’s daughter, Theresa Caron, for helping to make this possible.  We would also like to thank all of our donors and supporters.  Renovations will begin shortly so stay tuned for more pictures and updates!  Read the full press release.

And, for those who are wondering what happened to our first prospective project at 182 Water Street-due to circumstances, not under the control of either WLCT or the owner, the project must happen at a later date. We remain excited about the house and expect to purchase it when it is available.
